Story
Kane is a very shy and sweet boy. He will need an adopter that is familiar with the breed and knows how to help him gain confidence. He is not a candidate for an adopter that hasn't had dogs in the past or any adopters with small children. He is crate and house trained for the most part. He does get nervous when you leave and sometimes has accidents in his crate. He is dog selective and would do best in a home with no other dogs. Kane is very smart and rings a bell on the door when he has to go outside to potty! He loves to nap on your lap and would make a great work from home buddy. He was abused when he was a little puppyand has an unusual bark. He's been through a lot and needs an adopter that will be patient while he adjusts to his new home. Kane is up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, neutered , microchipped, dewormed and on flea/heartworm prevention. Kane’s adoption fee is $200. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an application. Interested applicants can apply at: https://www.scarohio.org/adoption-application August 3, 2024, 12:22 am

Sweetie pie Izzy is looking for a new forever home. She unfortunately is no longer getting along with the other pets in her home. She will need to be the only pet going forward. She absolutely loves people and is so smart! About Izzy: - she LOVES people - she enjoys snuggles, pets and any attention - she loves all toys, especially bones - she is already house trained - she is crate trained (but won’t need a crate with no other pets around) - she knows commands sit, stay, heel and come very well - she is great on a leash and loves walks - she is a wonderful travel partner - great on car rides and adjusts to new places easily If interested in meeting Izzy, please fill out an adoption application: https://www.scarohio.org/adoption-application August 3, 2024, 12:22 am

***BLAKE IS A COURTESY POST - HE IS NOT IN OUR CARE*** Blake is 3 yrs old and 65 lbs, neutered and up to date on vaccines.Blake is an owner surrender. His family had called a local vets to have him put to sleep for an incident withthe cat he had lived with (we don't have any details of the situation). They reached out to someone for help and they ended up taking him so he wouldn’t be euthanized. He is currently at a local boarding facility but needs a forever home. He is housebroken. He is dog friendly (but we haven’t introduced him to dogs under 30 pounds). He loves everyone he meets, loves attention, going on outings to the pet store and the company of other dogs. If interested, please fill out an adoption application: https://www.scarohio.org/adoption-application We will forward the application to the kennel he is currently at and they will contact you. Story
Cheerio is ready for his forever home! He went to the cardiologist earlier this month and was diagnosed with moderate to severe pulmonic stenosis. He has started atenolol, a beta blocker. This medicine lowers the heart rate and decreases the heart’s demand for oxygen which will help regulate his heart beat. He will be on the beta blocker for the rest of his life. It is a fairly inexpensive medicine and will cost the adopter around $10-$25/month. He will also be due for a follow up echocardiogram in six months to ensure the medicine is working and that is doesn’t need to be adjusted. There is a surgery that is recommended for Cheerio if his condition doesn’t improve with this medicine. It is a very costly surgery and does not guarantee a complete fix which is why we have decided to go this route and not have him go through this risky surgery at such a young age. We are hoping there is a special home out there for Cheerio. He is a very sweet boy and deserves the best! If you are interested in Cheerio please fill out an adoption application at: https://www.scarohio.org/adoption-application If you want to know more in detail about Cheerio’s medical condition, please email us at scarohio@gmail.com August 3, 2024, 12:22 am

Story
Our little pitty mix girl Amelie was found wandering the streets of Alabama at the age of just a few months, just a walking skeleton with 2 giant bright eyes. We adopted her from a local shelter Rescue Village where she was transferred after she was found. She is 4..5 years old now and lived with us her entire life. Unfortunately we are about to lose our house and won't have a place to keep her. She is super friendly and loving, all she does all day is snuggle with you and try to lick you till you get a hotspot. She's great with other dogs and kids, even when our toddler tries to climb on top of her or smack her she just licks him back in return. She never showed any sign of aggression or ever even barked at anyone, when a new person comes in our house she is the first to greet and sniff them and offer them warm welcome. You honestly won't ever find a more calm loving dog in your life. She can be home alone all day without any issues.

Story
Moonshine was adopted from local shelter Rescue Village at 3 months. He's 4.5 yo. He was born with a deformed front right leg so he is a proud tripod. However it doesn't bother him even the slightest. He hops around everywhere ever since he was born and runs twice faster than our other dog with a full set of legs (that's really something to see!). Unfortunately we are loosing our house and won't have a place to keep him. Ever since he was a puppy he's been a very anxious dog who always get easily scared and spooked and hides between your legs and seeks for your protection. It takes him a while to learn to trust a new person/dog/child. But once he'll get used to you all he'll be doing is rubbing his head on your hand asking for pets all day long until you cave in, and if you dare to stop even after 20 minutes he will be very displeased and ask for more. He is reactive to other dogs outside and barks at them a lot. He can be home alone all day without any issues or accidents.
