Possible they unify the band sizes. I mentioned it in another thread, but if the 'new' 42mm watch is both a larger display and the size of the 'old' 42, then it would be reasonable for them to just shift over to one width for all the watches. It would be awful for collectors, but I can definitely see them doing it.

Possible I guess…but then again, surely the smaller band will need to stick around for the SE? All the rumours suggest that the new SE will take on the form factor of S7/8/9 & I would be surprised if they only offer SE in 45mm

So if the smallest size will be 42mm, will the bands previously designed for 38mm/40mm/41mm fit this new 42mm Watch? I am more than ready to finally retire my Series 4 (40mm) Watch & have quite a large collection of official bands. As I have small wrists, I really do not want to go much larger than my current watch (& would obviously like to continue using my existing band collection). The original rumour of the smallest size this year being 45mm, prompted me to consider getting a Series 9 41mm (Graphite), which is now available to pick up at a discounted price in the UK...but if Series 10 will be 42mm, slimmer depth and compatible with my existing band collection, I will likely buy

Possibly should have held out another day until tomorrow's S10 announcement, but I have today ordered an S9 41mm in Stainless Steel Graphite from Costco for £399, which I think is a pretty good deal. Costco had sold out of this model with the S/L Sport Band (which I would have preferred) & only have stock remaining with the M/L Sport Band. I was concerned that they might not have any stock left tomorrow, so ordered with the M/L band...not the correct size for me, but I plan to use my existing collection of bands, including both the Space Black and Silver Link Bracelets, both of which I think should work/contrast nicely with Graphite.

Coming from Series 4, this should be a pretty decent upgrade for me, at a reasonable price. If I am wowed by the S10 announcement & S10 has not got too much bigger/is compatible with the legacy 'small' bands, I can always return the S9 to Costco for a refund

OH sure. I imagine the top end is all unified, and the SE or less expensive ones stick around with prior gen features for a bit. Much like how dynamic island was a top tier feature until it trickled down. But who knows, tomorrow will be exciting for sure!

I'm skeptical, but hoping for some Series X surprises tomorrow.

Remember when AW debuted? It was pitched as three "expressions" with the Sport, Watch, and Edition, focused on activity tracking, communication/notifications, and fashion, respectively. (And they rose in price across the spectrum.)

With a new SE rumored, maybe it's time to go back to dividing the lineup.

SE: two (bigger) sizes, plastic, focus on kids and entry level
Watch: aluminum/steel, focus on fashion with a slimmer design
Ultra: for sport/adventure, rugged design (as it is now)

I'd aim for the middle, downgrading from the Ultra to something less bulky (and less capable).

It‘s actually kinda cool that Watch rumours are so rare and unreliable. Gives the announcement an edge that the iPhone announcements just don‘t have anymore because we basically know all the specs already.

That's a good question. My guess is that it'll be compatible with the smaller bands, to appease those that always get the smaller watch. Or they'll introduce a new band size/design that's compatible with the new watches going forward. I don't see Apple switching everything over to the larger band. It wouldn't be right to obsolete one band size, but not the other. We'll find out in less than 24 hours. Where are the 2024 AW leaks and rumours? [MERGED] (7)

My prediction: 42/46mm curved watches that are essentially another S4/S7 revolution. Slimmer bezels, maybe thinner.

The 45/49mm rumor is, in fact, small/large Ultras.

I’d agree if Watch wasn’t so stagnant from a design perspective.

So he’s covering all his bases a day before the event. Something will eventually be correct if you predict all possible scenarios.

If you basically nail the design right from the start, all it takes furthermore is refinement. This is not the same as stagnation.

Agree with this. We don’t need drastic changes for the sake of it. If you think about luxury watches or even other products - they stay very similar over time and a bit reiterated.

For phones it’s one thing for watches it’s another.

Still sporting my aw6 with the Blood Oxygen app still working, however currently at 78% battery capacity. Is there any update on the licensing of this app for future WATCHs?

Even for phones how much can you really re-invent a slab of glass? We've had 5 designs in 17 years if you want to be generous, but really 2 - chin and no chin, the biggest 'changes' has been curved vs flat sides.

Curved w/ home button: iPhone / 3G / 3GS
Flat w/ home button: 4 / 4S / 5 / 5s / 6 / 6s / SE
Rounded w/ home button: 7 / 8 / SE2 / SE3
Rounded w/o home button: iPhone X / XS / XR / 11
Flat w/o home button: 12 / 13 / 14 / 15 / 16
